Digital Announcement Board Application in Imperial Mosques

The Digital Announcement Board Application for Selatin Mosques is an innovative initiative designed to organize information flow in historic mosques while preserving the aesthetic and cultural integrity of Ottoman architecture. Temporary posters and paper notices commonly seen at mosque entrances create visual clutter and reduce the effectiveness of communication. This project aims to present all announcements through a single, controlled, and visually harmonious digital board.

The digital board is positioned in harmony with the mosque’s architectural structure, ensuring that it does not disrupt the historical fabric of the building. Instead of bright and attention-grabbing screens, low-brightness, automatically adjusted, matte-surface displays with minimal or frameless designs are used. Hidden cabling and non-intrusive installation methods ensure full compliance with UNESCO heritage protection principles.

Rather than conflicting with tradition, the project integrates modern technology as a subtle organizational tool. While the historical identity of Selatin mosques remains intact, essential information for both local worshippers and international visitors is delivered in a clear and contemporary format. Considering tourist density, orientation needs, and multilingual communication, the digital board offers a practical and sustainable solution.

The digital announcement system improves readability and eliminates information overload, while also enabling instant publication of emergency alerts, security notices, or sudden program changes. This rapid communication capability transforms the screen into an effective tool not only for information sharing but also for safety and crisis management.

Designed with long-term durability, energy efficiency, and sustainability in mind, the system is planned to operate without placing an additional burden on mosque administrations. With options such as solar energy support, centralized or local control panels, and enhanced security measures, the digital board is positioned as a reliable and future-proof information solution for historic religious spaces.
