Addiction Prevention and Awareness Program | Çaykara
The Çaykara Addiction Prevention and Awareness Program is a preventive awareness initiative developed by the Digital Sustainable Leadership Association (DESIL) and proposed to be implemented in cooperation with the Green Crescent Trabzon Branch. The program is designed in response to the growing impact of addiction, which has evolved from an individual issue into a multidimensional social risk affecting communities as a whole.
The decreasing age of first exposure to addiction among children and adolescents highlights the urgent need for early, field-based, and expert-supported preventive interventions. Although Çaykara is a small district in terms of population, recent increases in addiction-related cases indicate the necessity of structured and sustainable local awareness programs.
The project aims to raise awareness among middle and high school students in Çaykara, increase their knowledge of addiction types, risk factors, and prevention methods, and create a strong preventive effect by providing accurate and reliable information at an early age. The program is designed to be supported by the expertise and institutional knowledge of the Green Crescent, ensuring a scientific and sustainable educational model.
A three-day implementation plan is designed to reach a total of 932 students attending 5 middle schools and 3 high schools in the district. During this period, informative seminars on various types of addiction, awareness activities, and interactive educational sessions will be conducted. Educational materials provided by the Green Crescent will support the learning process.
With its previous experience in school-based projects, strong local partnerships, and ongoing cooperation with Çaykaraspor, DESIL possesses a robust field and organizational capacity. Through this program, a lasting awareness infrastructure is intended to be established in Çaykara, creating a model that can serve as an example for similar initiatives at the local level.
